Exploration via Senses: Hungary Yoga Retreat

Nourish yourself in the light of another

19-23 October 2019

5 days / 4 nights • Dömös, Hungary

During this Hungary yoga retreat, we will journey inward through yoga and meditation and outward through playfulness and community.
Through various body-based practices, we will seek our own center, explore connections and see how we can meet someone else’s being.
You learn to surrender and develop a willingness to feel, rather than promote a willfulness to change what is felt. You only go deeper if the body naturally releases and your emotional tone is willing. – Sarah Powers
Expect nature hikes, a walking meditation while taking in the wonderful foliage and unwinding in the in-house sauna. You will also have a chance to learn about the area’s history during a cultural excursion to Visegrád Castle, and take in the amazing view of the Danube river and surrounding hills.
Weather permitting, we will take a longer hike to Dobogókő (roughly translated “pulsating stone”), said to be the Heart Chakra of the Earth.
While we take in the present moment through all our senses during the yoga retreat – including sights, smells, sounds and touch – we will explore ourselves and the surroundings. We may catch a glimpse of our own reflection in others.

The Hungary yoga retreat takes place in the quiet of nature but close to the exciting capital Budapest at a century-old watermill converted into a retreat that feels like a charming castle. The Malomház (or mill house) is in Dömös, at a 45-kilometer distance from the capital city of Budapest. It is reachable by car, bus, or boat.
Dömös lies on the Danube River and the house is at the crossroads of various hiking paths, ideal for active leisure and relaxation. From Budapest, you can rent a car or take a bus to Dömös. The trip takes about 85 minutes. From the bus stop, the retreat venue Malomház is within a five-minute walk.
The house has plenty of communal spaces, a large garden, an indoor and an outdoor fireplace, a built-in sauna, and a gorgeous yoga room.

This is what guests have said about our previous retreats

“One of the things I loved most on the retreat with Eszter and Nathalie was the group: amazing people and a great atmosphere. Very respectful towards each other, very inclusive. It felt like we have been away for two weeks, even though it was only 4 days! I slept so well, felt very energetic and upbeat. All in all a fantastic experience.
Fieke Huisman
“Dömös is a beautiful location. Eszter is a wonderful and motivating teacher and the people she works with make it an inviting and relaxing experience. It’s a perfect moment in time where you can find your inner balance, see the tranquil sites, or otherwise meet some great and interesting people.”
Nicholas Preda
“What I admired most on the retreat in Dömös was that despite the differences between participants we were all like a family. We shared the same spirit, being here and now. I also really enjoyed the variety in the program, moving and playing and connecting with others in the practice. I liked the silence and connecting to my inner self with the different methods of meditation.”
